Derek Simmonds

POSITION
Derek Simmonds is a Partner specialising in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
He is based at our Kidderminster office working for private individuals and our Business Services clients across the Practice.

I am a member of:-
The Property Litigation Association,
The Pyramus and Thisbie Club (its for party wall dispute specialists!)
The Association on of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists
Derek is also a member of the Strategic Management Team that is responsible for the operation, the development and direction of the Practice.

CAREER
Derek has been working full time in the legal profession since he was 18. Upon qualifying Derek turned down the offer of a Partnership in London, opting for rural life. On moving to Herefordshire, he joined an established County Practice before joining Talbots in 1992 and has been a Partner since 1993.

EDUCATION
Derek's main priority at school was social! He started full time employment in the legal profession, and then began studying.
In 1985 he qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. He then studied part time at the City of London Polytechnic before attending the College of Law at Guildford, qualifying as a solicitor at the age of 29.

LEISURE
Derek lives on a smallholding in rural Herefordshire. The family also run a small property and holiday-let business
He is a keen squash player, swimmer, and fair-weather cyclist. Derek has recently taken up running and membership at the local gym.
His goals include getting proficient at tennis and teaching his young daughter to ski
Derek is also an independent school governor at Lucton School in Herefordshire

DID YOU KNOW THAT....................................???
In his school days Derek used to wash cars for the rich and famous.
He has sung in a choir which included two television appearances (do not ask what!) at The Albert Hall and Queen's Private Chapel at Windsor.
